Supported Media

Unlike a CDN, Kurator does not host videos but allows users to add interactive experiences as overlays to videos hosted elsewhere. This is achieved using existing URLs for video files or IDs for Vimeo and YouTube videos.

Supported Media Types

Kurator supports the following media types for creating interactive experiences:

  • .mp4 Links: Standard video format used widely across the internet.
    • Example: https://res.cloudinary.com/source-digital/video/upload/v1629825131/tucker_tvblzw.mp4
  • .webm Links: A format designed for web use, offering high-quality video with smaller file sizes.
    • Example: https://www.nicholasair.com/assets/vid/your-jet-is-ready-intro.webm
  • Vimeo Videos: Identified by their Vimeo IDs.
    • Example: 591239616 (from URL: https://vimeo.com/591239616)
  • YouTube Videos: Identified by their YouTube IDs.
    • Example: 8YjFbMbfXaQ (from URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YjFbMbfXaQ)

Integrating Vimeo and YouTube Videos

Vimeo Integration:

  • Ensure the "Who can watch?" setting is either Public or Hide from Vimeo.
  • The "Where can this be embedded?" setting must be set to Anywhere.
  • Vimeo review links and private links will not work with Kurator.

YouTube Integration:

  • Supported visibility settings:
    • Public: Videos visible and shared with anyone using YouTube.
    • Unlisted: Videos visible and shared by anyone with the link.
  • Not supported:
    • Private: Videos visible only to you and selected YouTube users.

To change a video’s visibility on YouTube:

  1. Navigate to the “Content” tab in YouTube Studio.
  2. Click on the icon in the visibility column for the video to be used.
  • .mp4 Link: https://res.cloudinary.com/source-digital/video/upload/v1629825131/tucker_tvblzw.mp4
  • .webm Link: https://www.nicholasair.com/assets/vid/your-jet-is-ready-intro.webm
  • Vimeo ID: 591239616 (from URL: https://vimeo.com/591239616)
  • YouTube ID: 8YjFbMbfXaQ (from URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YjFbMbfXaQ)

When using YouTube links, ensure not to include the watch?v= part of the URL. Kurator does not support YouTube links with a time offset for start.
